Dyed linen, sewn, hand appliqued, and distressed.
Process: linen was dyed faded shades of red, dark gray, and yellow, then areas of the back were airbrushed to look less faded, as well as more color complexity on the front for aging and stained effect. It's part of an educational trunk, so my goal as an artist was to make it look old but cared for, aged but not too fragile for sharing, and machine washable.
